Substance Abuse Prevention Program

The Prevention program aims at preventing or reducing the use of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs by adolescents and young adults. Although the target population are adolescents and young adults, addiction is a family disease. The SAP provides community awareness and education for the entire Peach Springs community to reduce barriers for families. The SAP continuously monitors community trends in youth substance misuse to keep pace with emerging community needs.

Tribal Action Plan

Our mission is to create a community for youth and adults in a safe cultural traditional way and to decrease the alcohol and drug use in our community by empowering respect for the community and integration of services.

Our Vision is a healthy community enriched with culture and tradition empowered by accountability and respect.

The TAP is the product of a collaborative planning process initiated by the Hualapai Health-Education & Wellness department in 2015. The Tribal Action plan is the draft process. It is anticipated that the Final Tribal Action Plan will be completed and disseminated by July 2016. On May 9th, the Hualapai Tribal Council approved and passed Resolution 38-2016 the Hualapai Tribal Action Plan. It encompasses priority issues that are substance abuse related and encourages tribal wide collaboration systems.
